Wayne grew up in a Fatherless home and experienced the effects of it first hand(which in his early years led him on a path of going in/out of the juvenile justice system.) The life giving benefits of reading this book to children and it being read by adults is that it offers a lifeline of hope to hopeless children who are with out present fathers. This book also provides healthy intro points of communication to the frustrated and silent parent or guardian through creating dialogue to difficult conversations about relationships between parents.
My Dad and God Are They Fairytales is a very visual, engaging and creative way to present the challenge of growing up in the world without a father. For my son, whose father is very present in his Life, the book gave him and his dad more of an opportunity to bond and express gratitude for the relationship they have with each other. We know that truly is a gift from God.
